Freshly picked! This is the first piece in the Herbal Series and the piece that inspired me to build a whole world around herbs and flowers. I originally created this with a specific tea recipe and it’s ingredients in mind. Afterwards though, I realized that the recipe was merely a spark of inspiration and what really caught fire and ignited my passion was the flourish of herbs depicted and the thriving and prosperous life energy behind them. For this work, I experimented with the composition by using several small panels to comprise a large image as a way to express how every creature had to work together to celebrate the tea party.
